5-mile Trip. Welch Park in Boscawen to Quickwater (2-3 hours)

Welch Park to Quickwater is a leisurely paddle taking approximately 2-3 hours. Beaches are abundant on this trip so there are many places for paddlers to stop, eat lunch, play frisbee or work on their tan and enjoy the afternoon. There is great fishing and a fair amount of bald eagle activity in this area so bring your binoculars and camera to take home some memories of your trip. Take-out is at our landing found on the left side of the river at the Routes 3/4 bridge that run into Penacook / Boscawen.

10-mile Trip. Merrimack County Nursing Home Launch to Quickwater (3-4 hours)

This trip is very popular for those looking to spend a day on the water. More scenic and rustic the 10-mile trip feels remote without being remote. There is abundant wildlife and great fishing and swimming. You’ll encounter a few rope swings in this section. While there are fewer beaches on the first half of this trip, its a great way to start the day as you eventually find the beaches five miles down river. The half way mark of this trip is the old bridge pilings from the Canterbury / Boscawen bridge that was dismanteld in 2014. Once past this section you find plenty of beaches to enjoy the rest of the day with. So plan on paddling in the morning and relaxing in the afternoon on the beaches in the lower section of our trips.

15-mile Trip. Franklin High School to Quickwater (6+ hours)

A trip for the adventurous or those looking to kayak or canoe camp for the night. The Merrimack River begins here behind the High School where the Winnipesaukee and Pemigewassett rivers meet. Within the first 1.5 miles there are 4 short sets of Class I rapids that are easy to maneuver through making for an exciting trip. This part of the trip is the most remote feeling of the three trips we offer. You’ll meander through farmland that is very scenic, offering a beautiful journey of peace and tranquility found so close to home. There is a fair amount of bird activity in this section such as Great Blue Herons, Egrets, Hawks and Bald Eagles and great fishing. Species include bass, trout, salmon and catfish. There are no beaches but there are places to stop along the way and stretch as needed.
